Role of the maxiPAL Librarian

A maxiPAL must always designate one member as its Librarian. The Librarian’s role is to organise and maintain the maxiPAL and, optionally, to moderate the content as submitted by its members.

You don’t need any special skills to be a Librarian. The tasks involved can all be performed from within the PAL environment, i.e. when the Librarian is online and logged into Dadooda.

When a maxiPAL is first set up the Librarian is always the member who sets it up and activates it. Thereafter, the Librarian can be changed at any time. This means the role can be shared among members of the maxiPAL.

The Librarian has exclusive access to a range of functions called Organiser Functions and Moderator Functions.

Organiser Functions enable the Librarian to perform certain organisational and maintenance tasks and to customise the maxiPAL to reflect its particular purpose.

Moderator Functions enable the Librarian to exercise some local control over the quality and quantity of items published in the maxiPAL so that, for example, the content submitted by its members are always relevant and interesting. The Moderator Functions can be disabled by the Librarian at any time.

Below is a summary of the functions exclusively available to the Librarian.
