As soon as you’ve signed up and logged in as a member you can start uploading items for publication on Dadooda. The process is very straightforward and intuitive, involving just few simple steps.

Step 1 – Select the type of item you want to publish
Step 2 – Complete the template
Step 3 – Upload your item
Step 4 – Review and edit your item if necessary
Step 5 – Publish your item!

Then sit back and admire your work, which is now on show to the world! It’s as easy as that.

So, here’s what you do, step by step.

Step 1 – Select the type of item you want to publish

Log in to Dadooda, select Submit New Item and click on the icon for the type of item you want to publish. You have five choices – Article, Images, Video, Audio and Book.

When you have made your selection a page containing the relevant template will open.

Step 2 – Complete the template

Each template is comprised of four fields for completion. These represent the various elements that make up your item when it is published on Dadooda. All templates include Subject and Title elements. The remaining two elements depend upon the type of item you selected.

Below is a description of each element.

Subject

You must select a Subject Group and Subject for your item from drop down lists. There are over 30 Subject Groups covering over 470 Subjects.

Title

Enter a title of up to 50 characters. Compose your title carefully because it is what other users will see when your item is included in a list of search results. Ideally, it should be directly relevant to the subject of your item – not vague or cryptic.

Introduction

You can write an Introduction to your item of up to 500 characters (about 80 words). This is especially important for Images, Video and Audio items because it is the main text that will be searched by Internet search engines.

Ideally, your Introduction should contain a concise description of the item and its subject matter with relevant key words and phrases. Think of and include words you would use if you were searching for your item.

If you don’t want to write a full introduction you should still type in some key words and phrases.

Main Text

This field is called Write Article on the Article template and Write Book on the Book template.

This is where you enter the main text of your Article or Book. You can type it directly into the template, or copy and paste from a text editor (recommended) or word processing application such as Microsoft Word.

An Article can contain up to 12,000 characters (about 2,000 words). A Book can contain up to 1 million characters (about 160,000 words – equivalent to about 300 pages).

Images and captions

Add photos or other graphic images with captions (optional) to your Images or Article item.

The image file formats accepted are displayed on the template.

Between 1 and 20 images can be included in an Images item.

Up to 5 images can be included in an Article (optional).

Captions can contain up to 50 characters. They will appear directly beneath the image.

Video clip

Add a video clip of up to 100 megabytes to your Video item.

The video file formats accepted are displayed on the template.

Audio clip

Add an audio clip of up to 100 megabytes to your Audio item.

The audio file formats accepted are displayed on the template.

Step 3 – Upload your item

When you have completed the template, click on the Upload button. This will send your item to Dadooda’s servers.

When your item has finished uploading it becomes a “Pending Item” (which means you have uploaded it but it is not yet published) and a page called My Pending Items will open.

Step 4 – Review and edit your item if necessary

The My Pending Items page lists all your pending items, with the latest item you uploaded at the top of the list. The information displayed includes the title of the item, the subject you selected for it, the date you uploaded it and the item type icon.

There are three actions you can take before you submit your item for publication on Dadooda.

Preview the item

Simply click on the title of your item to preview it exactly as it will appear on Dadooda.

Edit the item

Select Edit to make changes to your item. This will open the Edit menu.

Dadooda’s powerful edit functions enable you to edit any element of your item, including re-ordering, replacing or deleting images and replacing video or audio clips.

Delete the item

Select Delete to delete the item. To prevent accidental deletion you will be asked to confirm your action. There is no way to recover the item after it has been deleted.

When you’ve reviewed and if necessary edited your item, you’re ready to publish it.

Step 5 – Publish your item!

Just click on Publish to submit your item for publication on Dadooda. You will be asked to confirm your action.

You will receive an email from Dadooda when your item has been published on Dadooda and it will then move from your My Pending Items page to your My Published Items page.
